Reshelving books at the Goldstein (aka The MotherShip), I randomly found a new-ish release titled The MLS Project: An Assessment After Sixty Years by Boyd Keith Swigger.
I have not finished the book; when I do, expect a glowing review. Also, it delays my epic “MLS White Paper/Opinion Piece” because now I have to re-write it in light of all this important information.
All I’m saying right now is: do not bother to engage in the MLS pro/con debate without reading this book. Period. Don’t even. Stop right now, put your opinions, ideals and experiences aside, and read this book.
I’ll be quite straightforward here: if you do not read this book, then I simply cannot take your opinion about the future of the MLS/MLIS within the profession seriously, because obviously you don’t either. That’s how important this book is.
Go. Read. We’ll talk later.
