dawn at Lake Ella

11/28/2021 – Sunday (revenge of the covid booster shot)

Yesterday afternoon was great, spent going to lunch with a friend and then perusing a used books store (danger! danger! …yes I bought some books, I’m not a monster!). But then at about 2 p.m. I started feeling tired and getting a headache. I just felt so fuzzy headed for no reason, but then I remembered: oh yeah I got my COVID19 booster shot on Friday night around 6 p.m.

I thought I had escaped side effects, but by 4 p.m. yesterday, 22 hours after the shot, I knew I was very, very wrong.

The next four hours were unpleasant, with uncontrollable chills followed by a low-grade fever. I was shuddering so hard that Keely, who is not generally a cuddler, crawled up on the bed to curl up with me. She settled so that her head was laying over the exact place where I got the shot. Dogs are so amazing sometimes! She stayed with me for a few hours, even, which is pretty unheard of for her (she hates being hemmed in).

I eventually fell asleep and slept for 12 hours, so that’s how that went. *cringe face*

Which means we were up when the chill was falling off outdoors, and the sun was already up even though it was cloudy. My back was hurting, par for the course when I lay down for too long, so I tried to go for at least an hour walk to loosen up my muscles. As we walked through the Sonic at 8th and Monroe, I saw this notice pop up on the menu screen:

Due to nationwide supply issues, some of your favorite items or ingredients may not be available. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Says a lot about how things are going, I think. My trip to the grocery store on Friday also saw a lot of empty shelves. I do wonder if this is just how things are going to be from here on out, and a niggling little part of my brain says “yes.” I really do think the US is a failing state, which both terrifies me and does not surprise me at all. [writes then deletes a bunch of depressing shit]

Okay, enough of that. Time to go write some more in Bones & Brews, which is slowly revealing itself to me. Pantsing is fun, when you let it.

(I added the photo to my google photos album, plague diaries.)
